Emanuel lost his father to AIDS and was brought up by his mother, a former Jamaican model. Emanuel had a mom who, after the second marriage, had to provide a salon because she knew nothing about haircuts and cosmetics. Having been raised in the Bronx, Ceaser has had a keen interest in the visual arts, and this has prompted him to go to school to learn the art professionally. Emanuel graduated from high school and went to Katharine Gibbs College and took a course in graphic arts. Emanuel later earned a bachelor’s degree in visual communication, including a minor in graphic design, after having his first child, and began work as a graphic designer and art director.

Emanuel opened a tattoo store in Harlem in 2011 that has since formed the basis of the Black Ink Crew reality show. The Black Ink Crew of VH1 filmed behind the scenes of his hugely successful tattoo empire of the same name in Harlem, New York City. The show first aired in 2013, and it chronicled the lives of tattoo artists based at his shop. It made him a mainstay in the franchise. Further, the salon is also famous for haircuts and has attracted scores of celebrities so far.
However, VH1 cut ties with Ceaser Emanuel from Black Ink Crew New York after a video of Ceaser abusing his dog made its rounds on social media on June 22, 2022. In the video, Emanuel was seen kicking his dog while hitting it with a folded chair. However, on June 25, 2022, Ceaser revealed his side of the story while in an interview with TMZ. He said that he was breaking up a fight between his dogs, and one of the dogs eventually turned on him. He also revealed that he had no intention of abusing the dogs, but rather he was only trying to neutralise the situation. Occasionally, while on an interview with On the Radar’s Kiotti Brown, Ceaser said that he thinks his ex-girlfriend, Suzette Samuel, was responsible for leaking the video, terming it “a setup.”
Ceaser, even after leaving VH1, continues to operate multiple tattoo studios all over under the Black Ink brand and remains in business activities. One of his latest shops was opened in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in October 2021. Additionally, he’s busy developing the Invasion tattoo tour, which features music artists, movie greats, and the most powerful influencers.
